Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Tumkur was establishedin 1979, is one of the premier institutions started with Civil & Mechanical Engineering by Sri Siddhartha Education Society (SSES), Tumkur. The institution began with the mission of preparing the young generation for "inner light, integration & prosperity". The institute is one among the 14 premier technical institutions in Karnataka state, selected by the world bank, for the award of financial assistance, technical education quality improvement program (TEQIP) to the tune of 10 crores. Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology has taken a leading role to uphold the entrepreneurial culture in Tumkur district.Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Karnataka has sanctioned Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP) to the college in 2000 & it has been recognized as one of the best training center in the district by various govt. agencies & Industries.

Master of Engineering or Master of Technology or Master of Science in Technology or Master of Engineering degree is a postgraduate program in engineering or technology field.ME/MTech degree program exposes students to a wide range of courses, combined with specialized research which culminates in a thesis. Such a combination gives students the breadth and depth necessary for pursuing careers in academics as well as industry.The residence requirements for ME/MTech program is four semesters. However, it is possible to get permission to spend one semester elsewhere. If someone wants to carry out the thesis work in a company, or at some other educational institution, it is allowed by the Institute.The scope of the course varies from material research to machinery development, Nano Technology, Smart materials, Aerospace Technology, Missiles technology, CAD/CAM, FMS, CIM, Automation and such other interrelated developments.
